Dr. John L. Dietrich was born in Aberdeen, MD, but he grew up on Long Island, New York. He received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Fairfield University in Connecticut and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Buffalo in New York. After completing a one-year residency at Erie County Medical Center, he relocated to Florida. He worked in two other practices before he and his wife, Dr. Theodora Kalonaros-Dietrich, opened their current Port Charlotte dental practice in 1985. Besides being highly skilled and trained in general dentistry, Dr. Dietrich has comprehensive training in cosmetic dentistry, implant placement, restorative dentistry, relieving dental anxiety, and treatments for TMJ issues. He takes pride in paying attention to the smallest details in every treatment he does. Dr. Dietrich has served on the Board for the Charlotte County Dental Society, the Florida West Coast District Dental Association, the local chapter of the American Cancer Society, and more. He is a proud member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Florida Dental Association, and is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. And by being a member of the Spear Study Club and the Seattle Study Club, Dr. Dietrich continues to study the latest research and training for dentistry. He has also completed the DOCS Oral Sedation Dentistry course in order to offer relaxing treatments to anxious patients.

Dr. Bates is a native of Columbus, Ohio and attended St. Charles Preparatory High School. Upon his graduation, he attended Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Dr. Bates continued his education at Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry, in Nashville, Tennessee in which he earned a Health Professions Scholarship from the United States Air Force and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the USAF dental corps. Dr. Bates graduated from Meharry Medical College with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.After his graduation, Dr. Bates became a Captain in the United States Air Force and competed post-doctoral training in Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency in Biloxi, Mississippi. In the residency Dr. Bates, received advanced training in all aspects of dentistry to include, IV conscious sedation, Oral surgery training, endodontic training, prosthodontic training and dental forensic training.He then honorably served at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama as a dentist for an additional three years serving all branches of service. Dr. Bates then moved back to the Columbus, Ohio area where he has practiced since 2005. Dr. Bates completed an implant residency, is an active member of the American Dental Association, and enjoys all aspects of dentistry. Dr. Bates is married to Shonna Bates and has two children Aleigha 19 and Journey 18 months. They are residing in the Venice area and are looking forward to becoming active members of our community.
We would like to proudly introduce you to our newest associate, Dr Matthew Graham, DDS. Dr Graham is a distinguished graduate of Virginia Commonwealth School of Dentistry. Dr Graham is proficient in all aspects of dentistry to include restorative dentistry, crown and bridge, Periodontics, he has trained at the Misch Implant institute, and the Spear Dental Academy. Dr Graham is a patient -oriented doctor who comes very highly recommended from his previous employer in Virginia. His excellent chairside manner and gentle touch is why I have chosen him as an associate. Dr Graham will continue to provide you with excellent care and I thank you in advance for welcoming him with open arms to the Port Charlotte area. Dr. Graham understands that the field of dentistry is ever-changing and in order to provide the best for his patients, he is constantly advancing his skills through attending many continuing education courses. Dr. Graham loves connecting with his patients in order to make them feel comfortable in the dental office. He also takes pride in giving back to others. He has participated in numerous outreach programs, such as Mission of Mercy, Christian Dental Society, and free clinics in rural areas of Virginia. Dr. Graham and his wife, Brooke, decided to relocate to Florida to be closer to family and to enjoy the beautiful weather that Florida has to offer. In his free-time, Dr. Graham enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife and their two golden-doodles, Oliver and Winston.
